You know who you are…
What can I give to you this Christmas-tide?
My arm is not so long that I can bring
A gift to each of you, spread far and wide
Across the world. I cannot hope to sing
A carol that would reach (or please) your ears:
The turkey has not lived yet that could feed
Us all, and if I worked a thousand years
I’d not repay the time you take to read
My humble verse and leave your comments. So
I offer you, my friends, this year’s last post
With warmest Christmas wishes. You should know
Your work, your words and wisdom mean the most.
Long may we share this journey we’ve begun:
God bless us, WordPress poets, every one.
See you all in 2012.
This is brilliant!!
And you know who you are too!!!
Happy Christmas Nick

And to you. You’re one of those special people who makes this whole thing worthwhile. I should also say that your work has brought me great joy and inspiration this year: I’m so, so glad you took the plunge and joined in the fun! N. x
Have a joyous and love-filled Christmas and New Year…Cheers!
You too, Charles – and my thanks again for your unfailing support and encouragement this year; it means such a lot.
Happy christmas Nick,
I really look forward to your company in 2012
David
And to you, David – thank you for your friendship and encouragement this year. Here’s to 2012.
Merry Christmas, Nick. May you find light this Christmas-tide that you can roll into balls of light that shine into sonnets, sestina, and ballads into the new year. A great sonnet to end the year.
It’s been a pleasure getting to know you and your work this year – looking forward to enjoying your writing and friendship in 2012. A very merry Christmas to you and yours.
Well done Nick, and thank you.
(I’m trying to imagine a turkey of the requisite size … !)
Happy New Year to you, John – I don’t think any amount of poetic licence could conjure that turkey into existence! Which perhaps is just as well. Hope you had a good Christmas; looking forward to more of your wonderful poetry:prose conversions in the year ahead.
Just WordPress? Well I, a lowly blogger user, wish you nothing but the best for the new year. Oh btw the way, awesome poem!!
Ah Bob, maybe I should change it to ‘online’ poets – always a delight to hear from you, and thanks so much for your kind comment. Wishing you the very best for 2012.
